Overview

A former United States Attorney and experienced trial lawyer, Todd represents clients in complex investigations, litigation, and regulatory matters.

Todd advises businesses and individuals on a range of criminal and civil matters, including government and internal investigations, litigation, and regulatory compliance. With years of experience as a federal prosecutor and counsel to a congressional committee, Todd is well-positioned to help clients navigate high-stakes and sensitive issues. He specializes in guiding clients through multifaceted investigations involving overlapping risks posed by criminal investigators, civil litigants, regulatory agencies, or congressional inquiries.

Drawing on more than two decades of public service, Todd brings insight from a broad legal background to help clients solve their problems. Early in his career, he served as Chief Counsel to the Committee on Homeland Security in the U.S. House of Representatives, helping shape policy and legislation to improve national security after the 9/11 attacks. He then spent years investigating, indicting, and trying cases as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia. Later, he served as Deputy Chief in the Department of Justice’s Public Integrity Section, where he supervised and handled significant public corruption cases across the nation. Most recently, Todd served as the presidentially appointed and Senate-confirmed U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi, overseeing an office of approximately 80 Assistant U.S. Attorneys and support staff and managing a wide range of criminal and civil matters. He also taught a class on public corruption law as an adjunct professor at the George Washington University Law School. Todd joined Husch Blackwell in 2025.

Clients appreciate Todd’s significant trial experience and ease in the courtroom: he has tried over 20 jury trials and developed a true talent for telling a cohesive, persuasive story to judges and juries—even over months-long trials.

Most of all, clients value Todd’s two decades of federal government experience. He knows firsthand how investigators, prosecutors, judges, officials, and members of Congress are likely to approach an issue. Todd excels at helping clients understand their risks and options by clearly explaining the evidence or information the government is leveraging and how issues are likely to progress.
