Capabilities / Congressional Investigations
Deliberate preparation for intense scrutiny.
Congressional investigations carry nuanced legal implications and a deep set of political and reputational considerations unlike any other investigation or legal proceeding. Whether an investigation is the result of a congressional inquiry or a proactive decision to articulate a client’s position, we guide clients through this challenging process.
Our bipartisan team of attorneys includes seasoned trial lawyers with experience in congressional investigations; former federal and state prosecutors who served under administrations on both sides of the aisle; former executive branch agency senior staff with experience in responding to congressional inquiries; and former senior staffers for congressional committees active in drafting and issuing subpoenas and participating in industry-shifting investigations, including both the House Committee on Homeland Security and the House Financial Services Committee.
This experienced team draws on the firm’s deep bench of industry subject matter authorities to help clients in a variety of sectors that often receive congressional attention, such as higher education, manufacturing (product liability and consumer protection), healthcare, consumer financial services, labor and employment and government contracts. Our congressional investigations team is also supported by the experienced attorneys in our government affairs, white collar, and internal investigations practices.
