Husch Blackwell served as transactional counsel to Samaritan Health Services in an affiliation with MultiCare Health System, a nonprofit health system based in Washington state, to create a combined hospital system with more than $9 billion in revenue.
As part of the partnership, MultiCare has committed to invest $700 million over 10 years to modernize Samaritan’s facilities, grow primary and specialty care, and introduce new technologies and telehealth capabilities that improve access, patient experience and help lower the cost of care. Samaritan will remain locally governed and community based, maintaining its deep roots in the mid-Willamette Valley and central Oregon Coast while gaining access to new resources, experience and operational strength through MultiCare.
The Husch Blackwell team was led by partners Tom Shorter and Kirstin Salzman and included attorneys Peggy Barlett, Auriel Ackerman, Kelsey Toledo, Wendy Arends, Halle Diaz, Rafael Sanga, Kinsey Griffith, Hansen Hoss, Albert Lin, Hayley Stepanek, Curt Chase, and Renee Zerbonia.
