Rafael’s interest in law began early, inspired by a family background in the legal field and a fascination with how law shapes society. While earning a degree in international studies, Rafael became especially interested in the impact of law on global issues.
Transactional law appealed to Rafael because it combines analysis and strategy. He loves the process of solving complex problems and finding practical solutions—the heart of corporate transactions.
During law school, Rafael participated in an estate planning clinic, drafting wills and life planning documents for underprivileged clients. This experience emphasized the meaningful role attorneys play in guiding important decisions. He also worked in an Entrepreneurial Law Clinic, where work with early-stage startups included forming business entities, drafting contracts, and advising on legal and business concerns. These experiences gave him a strong understanding of contract drafting and the intersection of law and business.
As a summer associate at Husch Blackwell, Rafael worked on a range of transactional matters across multiple industries and practice groups, gaining hands-on experience and building relationships within the firm.
