News Releases

Husch Blackwell continues the growth of its consumer financial services team with the addition of litigation partner Nick Agnello, who joins as a member of the firm’s virtual office, The Link. Since December 2021, the firm has added 17 attorneys, including seven partners, to the practice.

Based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Agnello, who joins from Burr & Forman, defends major banking and financial services industry clients in civil litigation matters alleging violations of federal and state law. He handles individual and mass actions, class action defense, multi-district litigation, arbitration, contested foreclosure, regulatory compliance, appeals, and other commercial litigation matters.

“Our team has grown tremendously in less than four years, and Nick’s arrival is part of our continued commitment to delivering a full suite of legal services to our consumer financial services clients,” said partner Marci Kawski, who leads Husch Blackwell’s Consumer Financial Services practice. “Nick is an accomplished litigator and greatly enhances our reach in Florida, which has a robust set of consumer financial protections that clients must navigate. We are delighted he has joined Husch Blackwell.”

Agnello has helped create favorable new laws for his clients in the deposit banking, credit card, mortgage lending and servicing, automobile finance, consumer lending, and FinTech industries. He has extensive experience with claims under state and federal consumer protection statutes, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Electronic Funds Transfer Act (EFTA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA, and Unfair Deceptive and Abusive Acts and Practices (UDAAP) prohibitions. His experience also extends to claims involving wire fraud, elder financial exploitation, identity theft, and other types of financial fraud.

“I’m thrilled to join Husch Blackwell’s consumer financial practice, which is rapidly differentiating itself as a leader in the industry,” Agnello said. “The team’s depth of experience, commitment to client service, and forward-thinking approach have positioned the practice as a go-to resource for clients navigating the evolving landscape of consumer finance. I look forward to collaborating with this talented group of professionals to further strengthen our capabilities and deliver innovative, results-driven solutions to our clients.”

Earlier this year, the firm added senior counsel John Redding, who focuses his practice on consumer financial services enforcement and investigations. The firm also added four consumer financial services litigators from Saul Ewing in 2024—headlined by partners Ryan DiClemente and Colleen Fox.
