To compile the list, Austin Monthly partnered with DataJoe Research, a software and research company specializing in data collection and verification that conducts various nominations across the United States on behalf of publishers. DataJoe facilitated an online peer-voting process, confirming that each published winner had, at time of review, a current, active license status with the appropriate state regulatory board. More than 300 lawyers in 43 specialties made the 2021 list, which begins on page 73 of the August 2021 issue.
