Theresa was drawn to healthcare law because of the impact the healthcare system has on people's lives.
Theresa advises hospital systems, physician groups, and mental health providers on a variety of state and federal regulations, including fraud and abuse laws such as the Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and False Claims Act; Medicare and Medicaid enrollment and reimbursement issues; the confidentiality of health information; and the changing regulatory landscape surrounding the provision of telehealth and telemedicine services. Theresa handles transactional work in the form of provider contracts with payors and health plans as well as various types of professional services agreements.
Theresa truly enjoys interacting with healthcare professionals and administrators and offering them legal support and strategies. Her mission is to address their legal issues so that they can focus on delivering the best care possible.
It's a mission that fits with her lifelong dedication to giving back: before beginning her legal career, Theresa worked with AmeriCorps VISTA and as an eighth-grade teacher in an underserved community. Today, pro bono work forms an important part of her practice.
