Overview

Shaun is a civil litigator who defends clients in complex product liability and toxic tort matters. With more than 13 years of experience, she brings seasoned judgment and sharp analytical insight to high-stakes litigation, quickly identifying the risks that matter. Shaun practices from Portland, Oregon as a member of our virtual office, The Link.

Her practice focuses on representing manufacturers, suppliers, and premises owners in asbestos, talc, and silicosis litigation in the Pacific Northwest. Based in Portland, Shaun has a deep understanding of the nuances and complexities of Oregon and Washington practice, two increasingly active jurisdictions. Shaun serves as local counsel in Oregon and Washington, managing day-to-day case strategy, conducting early case evaluations, identifying key defenses, and coordinating with national defense teams to keep clients and carriers informed and aligned.

A skilled and thoughtful writer, Shaun crafts substantive, nuanced briefs that move beyond formulaic arguments. She excels at pinpointing pivotal issues and developing well-researched, strategic positions that resonate with clients and courts alike, delivering a defense that is sophisticated and results-driven.

Before transitioning to civil practice in 2013, Shaun served as an assistant circuit attorney with the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office, where she gained valuable courtroom experience. The role sharpened her command of the rules of evidence and strengthened her ability to think quickly, adapt in real time, and advocate effectively under pressure, experience which she drew upon as she honed her courtroom advocacy skills as a civil litigator. Shaun has successfully argued numerous motions, including motions for summary judgment, which resulted in the dismissal of her clients before trial. Her prosecutorial background also provides practical understanding of juries—their unpredictability, their perspectives, and the dynamics that can shape a verdict. She draws on that insight to counsel clients with a clear-eyed assessment of legal risk and courtroom realities.

Outside the Office

Outside the office, Shaun stays busy with her two dogs, Astor and Ellis, who lead her on weekend adventures to the dog park, rain or shine.

Shaun grew up in Bend, Oregon, surrounded by lakes, mountains, and rivers, and returns whenever she can to paint and cook with her family (and squeeze in some summer camping).

An avid traveler, Shaun studied abroad in Florence, Italy, during college, exploring much of Europe. Since law school, she’s collected passport stamps in Costa Rica, South Korea, Japan, Croatia, Italy, Spain, France, Scotland, and most recently, the Cotswolds and Bath, England—where, as an English major and devoted Jane Austen fan, she happily spent a week feeling like a character in one of Austen’s novels.

A Gonzaga University alum, Shaun is also a dedicated college basketball fan and believes watching a good game, no matter the sport, is one of life’s best escapes.
