Richard J. Pelliccio

Senior Counsel
Overview

With more than a quarter century as a litigator under his belt, Richard knows how to achieve the best results possible for clients in a cost-effective way.

Richard has focused his legal career on litigation from day one. After working in aviation litigation, he took an in-house role in the London office of an insurance underwriter, drafting policies, managing claims and overseeing litigation involving telecommunications satellites. Upon his return to law firm work, Richard immersed himself in the fast-paced world of general commercial litigation in New York City, handling eight-figure cases that ranged from insurance coverage matters to financial disputes to product liability claims and catastrophic accidents. He has successfully tried numerous cases to verdict, conducted hundreds of depositions, and drafted scores of successful summary judgment motions and motions to dismiss.

Today, Richard devotes the majority of his practice to toxic tort matters, with a heavy focus on asbestos litigation in New York courts. Richard regularly serves on national coordinating counsel teams for major manufacturers, assisting with legal strategy across the country.

With a reputation for great diligence and for considering all possible defenses, Richard takes a logical approach to cases. He works to achieve early, cost-effective resolution for clients.

Outside the Office

Most of Richard’s free time is devoted to his family: he and his wife have three teenage and pre-teen sons, all of whom play hockey and enjoy cheering on the Carolina Hurricanes, and two of whom also play soccer. Richard’s weekends usually involve at least three hockey games, and often a soccer match or two as well.

Richard is a voracious reader of just about everything: he loves history, biographies, current events and literature, and he works to fit in as many books as possible around ferrying kids to sports practices. A former New Yorker, Richard also enjoys museums and the opera, although he admits he doesn’t have as much time for these activities as he’d like.
