Becky solves problems for consumer finance companies and other financial institutions.

Becky has always been passionate about engineering solutions for complicated questions. As a law student, she discovered that her talents for research and writing, paired with her attention to detail and creative thinking, made litigation a natural fit. Becky thrives on cases that involve difficult legal questions without clear cut answers, embracing the issues and diving into the legal analysis in order to find solutions and advise her clients.

After graduation, Becky accepted a clerkship with a magistrate judge in the Southern District of California, where she grew to appreciate the importance of solid writing for legal argument—and the attention to detail required to find exactly the right word. She gained extensive experience with settlement conferences, sharpening her negotiating skills and learning how to achieve the best client outcomes possible. Becky then took a role as a consumer finance litigator at a prior firm where she worked with consumer protection rules and frequently defended consumer finance companies and debt collectors against challenges to their business practices.

At Husch Blackwell, Becky serves as a member of our Consumer Financial Services team, representing clients that include installment loan companies, motor vehicle finance companies, banks, credit unions, online lenders, and short-term lenders. She frequently handles cases involving the Wisconsin Consumer Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA), and she also has experience with appellate work and class action defense.

Known as a highly responsive professional eager to help clients, Becky has a gift for explaining exactly what clients need to know, ensuring that they fully understand the legal situation but aren’t overwhelmed with legalese.
