Louay represents clients in patent litigation and intellectual property disputes involving a broad range of technologies, including software, network engineering, streaming media, audio/visual technologies, wireless communications, location-based services, medical devices, materials science, electrical and mechanical systems, and pharmaceuticals. He manages complex patent matters through discovery, claim construction, motion practice, and inter partes review, helping clients protect and enforce valuable intellectual property rights.
Louay has worked on patent litigation matters involving infringement, invalidity, prior art analysis, source code review, depositions of senior technical witnesses, and proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He also brings experience in trademark prosecution and in trademark and copyright enforcement. Before joining Husch Blackwell, he practiced intellectual property law with both Chicago and DC based firms and served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Franklin U. Valderrama of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, where he drafted opinions on claim construction involving medical device, software, and materials science patents.
A registered patent attorney, Louay combines his legal experience with a graduate background in biomedical science and prior work in front-end development.
