Overview

A commercial litigator, Hunter supports clients in the manner that best advances their business objectives—offering strategic guidance whenever possible and pursuing vigorous litigation when necessary.

His general commercial litigation practice spans many areas of deep knowledge, including creditors’ rights, bankruptcy, and insolvency; securities arbitration on behalf of broker-dealers; real estate litigation, with additional experience in eminent domain matters; and other commercial spaces. He has a proven track record of enforcing clients’ rights and defending their interests before state and federal courts and other regulatory bodies.

Before joining Husch Blackwell in 2025, Hunter practiced at a midsize, full-service firm, focusing on commercial litigation, trade secrets, and contract law. He also served as a judicial law clerk for the Hon. Lavenski R. Smith at the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit, and as a federal law clerk and judicial intern for the Hon. D. Price Marshall Jr. at the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Arkansas.

Perhaps planting the seeds of his future career, Hunter’s mother, herself a complex commercial litigator, would quiz him on legal concepts during drives to elementary school, asking questions such as, “Do you know what a tort is?” In college, he recognized that law aligned with his interests in history, culture, language, and problem solving.

Before law school, Hunter worked as a frontline commerce manager for the Walt Disney Co. in Florida. As part of that role, Hunter was trained at Disney University, where he learned to deliver professional, attentive service. Disney’s emphasis on meeting guests at their “eye level”—even literally kneeling to speak with a child—instilled in him the value of empathy and a true service mindset. He also saw how personalized, memorable interactions can advance business goals, an insight that shapes how he serves clients today. Intellectually curious and relationship-driven, Hunter is committed to understanding each client’s business, culture, and goals so he can integrate seamlessly as a trusted partner and forge connections that extend well beyond a single transaction.

Outside the Office

An Eagle Scout, Hunter is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, and snow skiing. Newly married, he and his wife also backpack and camp, tackling both short excursions and epic multi-day treks—from Texas’ Big Bend National Park to Wyoming’s Wind River Range and Grand Teton National Park, to Colorado’s Maroon Bells Wilderness. They conquered the 90-mile Dry Stone Route in Mallorca's Serra de Tramuntana on their honeymoon.

A fearless explorer with the taste for the extraordinary, Hunter’s adventures span the globe. He has rally-raced a tuk-tuk across India, raced a miniature motorcycle through Romania, and summited Mount Kilimanjaro, always chasing new cultures, thrills, and stories worth sharing.
