Overview

Shannon combines extensive complex litigation experience with a passion for helping mission-driven organizations navigate disputes, manage risk, and plan for the future.

As a member of Husch Blackwell’s Nonprofit Organizations & Religious Institutions team, Shannon helps organizations address legal challenges affecting their operations, governance, and mission. Her interest in this work stems in part from her pro bono representation of nonprofit organizations serving families and children early in her career. Through that work, Shannon saw how legal advocacy can advance an organization’s mission and have a broader impact on the people and communities it serves. She brings that perspective to her work now, helping organizations and institutional clients address immediate legal challenges while keeping their overarching objectives at the heart of each strategy decision.

Shannon represents clients in wide-ranging complex litigation matters including commercial disputes, class action defense, and other high-stakes conflicts. She guides clients through each stage of the dispute process, from pre-suit strategy and risk assessment through trial and appeal. She is committed to resolving disputes both thoughtfully and efficiently while remaining focused on clients’ priorities. Clients value Shannon’s dedicated and collaborative approach, as well as the time she invests in building trusted relationships. She is known for creative problem-solving and her consistently high-quality work product.

Before entering private practice, Shannon served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Gerald J. Pappert of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Outside the Office

Shannon and her husband Mike are busy raising three young children, which they find equal parts joyful and exhausting. After moving from Detroit to Denver to enjoy more time outdoors, Shannon has embraced Colorado life—skiing and tackling fourteeners as often as her schedule allows. She’s also a runner and devoted Fighting Irish fan.

Community Leadership

Shannon is committed to giving back through pro bono service and community leadership. She has represented clients in significant matters, including successfully advocating before the Michigan Supreme Court for a defendant challenging a juvenile life-without-parole sentence. She also served as a legal adviser to University of Michigan students involved in sexual- and gender-based misconduct proceedings, guiding both complainants and respondents through the investigation and hearing process.

Shannon serves on the Bloomfield Hills Academy of the Sacred Heart Alumnae & Alumni Board and is an active member of the Notre Dame Club of Denver. She is also a longtime Catholic Charities volunteer.
