Mark leverages firsthand experience to the advantage of his business clients’ intellectual property goals.

He worked in a manufacturing plant and completed a degree in chemical engineering before launching his legal career more than two decades ago. Mark prosecutes and defends in a broad array of intellectual property matters, including:

  • Patent prosecution work involving semiconductor processing methods, liquid crystal display (LCD), light emitting devices (LED), cancer treatment medicaments, magnetic recording mediums, medical devices and beverage-ware technologies.
  • Defended manufacturer in a design patent infringement suit in the US District Court and won summary judgment of invalidity of two design patents (concerning sports-based jerseys for dogs) based on prior art. The Federal Circuit affirmed the grant of summary judgment.
  • Represented patentee in successful inter partes review before the Board of Patent Appeals.

Mark concentrates mostly in patent prosecution matters globally, including extensive experience before the U.S. Patent Office. His practice also extends to patent litigation, patent validity and infringement opinions, trademark registration and intellectual property client counseling. His clientele comprises both domestic and international businesses.

  • Won a significant victory in the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Represented the prevailing defendant in a design patent infringement suit in the US District Court and won summary judgment of invalidity of two design patents (concerning sports-based jerseys for dogs) based on prior art. The Federal Circuit affirmed the grant of summary judgment of invalidity of the patents in an extensive precedential opinion.
  • Prepared patent application involving 3D printing technology for a multinational aerospace defense industry client.
