Jessica helps domestic and global insurers navigate complex, high-exposure insurance coverage disputes.

As an Insurance Attorney, Jessica advises clients on a broad range of first- and third-party insurance coverage matters, including matters involving international crisis management events. Jessica’s Insurance coverage practice includes advising, monitoring and litigating claims under:

  • Commercial general liability;
  • Cyber;
  • Directors and officers;
  • Employment practices;
  • Environmental;
  • Excess and surplus lines;
  • Life insurance;
  • Marine;
  • Product contamination;
  • Product recall;
  • Professional liability;

Jessica is sensitive to clients’ internal and external business relationships, and operational goals that run parallel to legal objectives. She oversees litigation in federal and state courts throughout the nation involving contractual and extracontractual claims. She regularly provides updates to her clients on significant insurance law developments, as well as advises regarding strategy for underwriting issues on specialty policies. Jessica works with counsel and experts in other countries to achieve her clients’ objectives, including in pursuit of subrogation.

  • Succeeded regarding writ of certiorari to Colorado Supreme Court seeking determination that insurance coverage may be excluded under absolute pollution exclusions for both nontraditional and traditional pollution events.
  • Negotiated settlement with general contractor and developer entities on eight-figure insurance coverage matter involving underlying construction defect action, bad faith assignment of rights and garnishment action.
  • Obtained ruling that attorney fees should not be covered under supplemental payments provision of commercial general liability policy.
  • Obtained summary judgment for technology company on breach of contract and promissory estoppel claims regarding insurance-related allegations.
  • Obtained successful jury trial verdicts on behalf of insureds in personal injury actions.
  • Successfully resolved multimillion-dollar South American insurance coverage claim with criminal implications for insureds.
  • Obtained dismissal for insurance carrier client against bad faith claims in life insurance matter involving slayer statute.
  • Negotiated settlement for excess Workers' Compensation insurance carrier in high-dollar New Mexico insurance coverage matter involving alleged catastrophic injury.
Outside the Office

Jessica and her husband stay busy keeping up with their energetic young son and the fourth member of the family: a black lab mix. Frequent trips to the park are a given. When able, Jessica and her family enjoy trips to the Caribbean. Barbados is a favorite spot.
