“I found Drew’s Catholicity Agreement to be very well done. It covers a range of significant issues with great specificity and with sound explanations. I reviewed several template Catholic identity agreements that [we] have on file and I found the Catholicity Agreement to be the best organized and most detailed agreement among the group.”

Overview

Drew offers clients legal solutions alongside healthcare regulatory experience.

During the first seven years of rolling out the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Drew worked inside the country’s largest pharmacy benefit management organization on regulatory issues, compliance and client solutions. At this Fortune 100 company, he gained broad knowledge of legal areas such as:

  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
  • Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA)
  • Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA)
  • State departments of insurance governance
  • Medicaid and Medicare enrollment and participation

Drew strengthened his understanding of the healthcare industry and the legal issues that impact healthcare-related businesses through his placement at St. Louis University’s Center for Health Law Studies, recognized as the nation’s premier health law program. Drew regularly advises hospitals, health systems, payors, and providers on transactional and regulatory matters including:

  • Health care affiliations, mergers, acquisitions and changes of control
  • Licensure and certification
  • Payor reimbursement
  • Compliance with Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute
  • State Health Boards oversight and enforcement

With first-hand knowledge of how quickly healthcare law changes and the challenges companies face in responding, Drew now brings this insight to clients from the other side of the table. He especially enjoys that, in healthcare matters, all parties are working toward the greater good of patient care.
