Husch Blackwell announced today the continued growth of its national Consumer Financial Services practice with the addition of a three-attorney litigation team led by partner Matt Manning. Based in Houston, the group joins from McGlinchey Stafford.
Manning will be joined by senior counsel Thomas White and associate Jonathan McKinney. They focus their practice on mortgage servicing, auto finance, and general commercial litigation. They have experience defending banks, nonbank lenders, and mortgage loan servicers in suits asserting claims under the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and various state consumer protection laws with a particular focus on alleged violations of the Texas Constitution’s provisions on home equity lending.
“This team continues our growth in Texas and brings deep experience in consumer financial services litigation that directly complements and strengthens our existing platform,” said Marci Kawski, leader of the firm’s Consumer Financial Services practice. “Matt, Thomas, and Jonathan add immediate depth in Houston, joining veteran consumer financial services litigation partner, Sabrina Neff, and across Texas, create new opportunities to expand relationships with existing clients, and position us well to meet the growing litigation demands facing banks, nonbank lenders, and mortgage loan servicers.”
The team’s practice also includes issues related to auto finance, where they represent title and vehicle finance companies in cases relating to lien priority, bankruptcies, and commercial defaults.
“The Consumer Financial Services practice at Husch Blackwell combines deep industry knowledge with a national reach that is unmatched in the marketplace,” Manning said. “This platform will allow us to expand our services to our clients, and we’re excited to support our new colleagues’ clients as they also continue to face increased litigation challenges.”
In 2025, Husch Blackwell’s Consumer Financial Services team added partner Nick Agnello and senior counsel John Redding.
