Peter assists the firm’s education clients, ensuring they comply with federal and state laws and regulations. He practices from Ankeny, Iowa as a member of our virtual office, The Link.
After earning his degree from the University of Iowa College of Law, Peter clerked with the Iowa Court of Appeals, where he learned the intricacies of legal arguments and research at the appellate level. This experience honed Peter’s eye for detail and the finer points of law, preparing him for the regulatory compliance work he would later take on. He has also worked as an attorney for the Iowa Department of Education, primarily focusing on legal issues related to special education and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
In 2023, Peter joined Husch Blackwell’s Education team. His practice includes assisting educational institutions with maintaining compliance with various federal and state laws and regulations. He has extensive experience drafting institutional policies and assisting in investigations. He is also skilled at contract drafting and review as well as conducting due diligence for mergers and acquisitions. In addition, Peter has become well versed in emerging areas such as AI and eSports/video gaming and can assist clients in those areas. In whatever matter he takes on, he is committed to delivering the best results possible.
