Jon supports the transactional needs of clients in the cannabis and psychedelics industries.

Jon comes from a background in litigation and oral advocacy and brings that skillset to his corporate clients. Prior to attending law school, he helped found a startup in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri that focused on increasing exposure for minority artists and business owners. He also held a fellowship during which he handled consulting projects for private businesses, labor unions, government agencies and nonprofits. Jon’s ability to build genuine relationships with his counterparts has become a cornerstone of his success, allowing him to develop unique solutions, contextualized to each client’s value structure.

After a season as a summer associate with the firm’s Cannabis team, Jon joined Husch Blackwell as a full associate. He assists clients with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and private equity transactions; conducts due diligence; drafts contracts; and provides counsel on the regulatory issues inherent in transactions. During his summer associateship, Jon’s research work played a role in the founding of the firm’s Psychedelics & Emerging Therapies practice group, and he continues to assist with transactions in those industries as well. Jon is truly excited to work in the cannabis and psychedelics fields while both industries are in their early years. He sees great potential in both and loves to work with clients who are on the cutting edge, faced with complex and novel issues.

During law school, Jon excelled in national oral advocacy competitions and was named a Top Five Speaker in the Midwest, earning admission into the Order of the Barristers. With his original training in litigation, Jon is known for his outside the box, analytical thinking when he drafts a contract. He always keeps digging until he finds a solution to particularly thorny matters, and he’s an excellent listener with a passion for client businesses. Jon’s goal is to ask clients the right questions to understand their unique situations, so that he can provide customized advice and answers.
