A former college coach, Billy supports the firm’s College Athletics team as they advise higher education clients.
Billy has had a lifelong passion for athletics: a connector at his core, he loves the camaraderie of sports and is at his happiest when building relationships among teammates. An athlete himself, Billy has devoted his career to college sports, serving as a coach and recruiter at both public and private universities, and he’s seen firsthand the impact athletics participation has on students. He’s also seen the challenges inherent in overseeing athletics programs.
After 14 years at colleges and universities, Billy joined the firm in 2025 in the midst of a rapidly changing landscape for collegiate athletics. As an Athletic Consultant, he works with schools of all sizes. He assists clients with matters such as athletics compliance reviews, NCAA infractions, student athlete relations, Title IX questions, and name, image, and likeness (NIL) rules. Much of Billy’s current consulting work centers on the House settlement as he advises institutions considering whether to opt in.
What Billy enjoys most about his role is simply the opportunity to connect with and get to know athletics directors, coaches, and administrators across the country. He works directly with the firm’s clients, helping them determine where their institution is, what they need, and where they’re heading before connecting them with the right attorney. A warm, welcoming, relatable presence who intuitively understands clients’ world, Billy brings a palpable energy and excitement to every matter.
