Husch Blackwell announced today that Megan Belcher will join the firm’s Kansas City office as partner. Belcher will practice as part of the firm’s Food & Agribusiness industry team and focus on labor and employment law, government compliance, investigations, and litigation.

Belcher comes to Husch Blackwell after nine years with Conagra Brands, where she led a team of attorneys and professionals who handled labor, employment, benefits, and compensation-related legal work, including the management of all national and international employment litigation and employee-related legal matters. She also created and led the company’s enterprise-wide compliance program and led its executive compliance council.

Belcher is a member of the Advisory Board for the Women, Influence & Power in the Law (WIPL) Network and is co-chair of the annual WIPL conference. In 2014, she founded Drinks Among Friends, a grass-roots organization focused on providing affordable and local leadership and development resources to women lawyers.

Belcher has received national recognition for her labor, employment and compliance legal work and her leadership skills. She is a former chair of the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Employment and Labor Law Committee, which won ACC’s "Committee of the Year" during her tenure. She was also named to the short list for Employment and Labor Law at the ILO’s Global Counsel Awards in 2013 and for three years in a row was named to the "Top Ethics and Compliance Officers" list in The Ethisphere Institute’s Attorneys Who Matter listing. The Association of Corporate Counsel selected Belcher for its inaugural class of "Top Ten Thirtysomethings" in 2012, and the Midlands Business Journal also selected her as a "40 Under 40" award recipient in 2014. She has been named a Transformative Leader by Inside Counsel and was twice named to Inside Counsel’s "Next Generation of Women General Counsel" list.

Belcher received her J.D. from Boston College Law School (2001) and her B.A. with honors from the University of Missouri (1998). She earned a masters certificate in Human Resource Studies from Cornell University and holds the Certified Ethics and Compliance Professional designation from the Compliance Certification Board.
