Husch Blackwell Represents RJ Developments with Innovative Aging Initiative Partnership

News Releases

Husch Blackwell represented RJ Developments, a leading Texas-based developer of senior-care facilities, in connection with the Innovative Aging Initiative, a partnership between RJ Developments and the Texas A&M University System that will design, develop and build a state-of-the-art senior-care facility in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Innovative Aging Initiative will spur research and development of new therapies and modes of care, as well as provide independent living, assisted living and memory care facilities. The project’s memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed March 22, 2017.

The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Division of Research, Commercialization and Outreach will provide project oversight for the Innovative Aging Initiative. Rosco Construction and DFD Architects will collaborate with RJ Developments to build the new senior-care facility.

Husch Blackwell assisted RJ Developments in organizing a new company – RJD Corpus Christi, LLC – to enter into the partnership with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and in negotiating the MOA. The firm will continue to support RJD throughout the project, providing legal counsel on management and operations agreements and licensing.

“Our firm is proud to participate in this high-profile project for the Coastal Bend region of Texas,” said Husch Blackwell’s Buffey Klein. “The Innovative Aging Initiative, as a best-in-class teaching and elder-care facility, will have a beneficial impact on students and patients for years to come.”

The Husch Blackwell team includes Buffey Klein, Mark Stallion, Jesse Shallcross and Chauncey Lane.
