Husch Blackwell has joined the City of St. Louis’s Contractor Fraud Legal Task Force, a coalition of attorneys working to assist St. Louis residents who may have been affected by contractor fraud following the devastating May 2025 tornado.
The task force brings together volunteer lawyers from several leading St. Louis law firms to provide pro bono legal assistance to homeowners navigating concerns related to repair contracts, construction disputes, and potential fraudulent activity. The initiative was organized in response to reports that some contractors may have taken advantage of residents working to rebuild their homes and communities after the storm.
Husch Blackwell’s participation is led by Pro Bono Counsel Brent Dulle, who oversees the firm’s civil rights pro bono efforts and works closely with attorneys across the firm on matters focused on expanding access to justice. Prior to joining Husch Blackwell, Dulle spent 15 years with the City of St. Louis Law Department, where he represented the city in a wide variety of litigation matters and later served in a leadership role supervising civil litigation attorneys.
“Recovery from a disaster extends far beyond repairing physical damage,” Dulle said. “For many families, rebuilding can become significantly more difficult when they encounter dishonest actors. We are proud to stand alongside our peers across the St. Louis legal community to help residents understand their rights, evaluate potential claims, and seek accountability where appropriate.”
The task force’s efforts are intended to complement broader community recovery initiatives and provide residents with access to legal resources that might otherwise be unavailable or cost prohibitive.
