National law firm Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce the addition of Los Angeles-based partner Brad Markoff, who joins the Real Estate, Development, & Construction (RDC) industry group.
Markoff brings a distinguished and uniquely hybrid practice that bridges real estate and corporate law, with deep experience in capital markets, real estate funds, complex financing transactions, and cross-border deals. He represents private and public companies, partnerships, and funds in a wide range of U.S. domestic and international capital markets transactions, including capital raising in private offerings and IPOs, secondary offerings of debt and equity, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate portfolio acquisitions and dispositions.
Markoff's clients span public and private real estate companies, real estate investment trusts (REITs), investment and commercial banks, and private equity funds. He has advised more than 20 publicly traded REITs in connection with formation transactions, IPOs, secondary offerings, and public merger transactions, and has formed numerous real estate and venture capital private equity funds. He has extensive experience in Asia-related transactions, having previously lived and practiced in Hong Kong and the People’s Republic of China.
“Brad fills an important and strategic gap in our real estate platform,” said Jon Giokas, Husch Blackwell partner and leader of the firm's more than 100-attorney RDC team. “Real estate funds and capital markets represent a high-priority area for our team, and Brad's hybrid practice, which intersects at real estate and corporate, directly addresses that need. His arrival enables us to better serve our existing clients and also addresses a key geographic priority for us.”
“Husch Blackwell's national platform and the firm's deep commitment to the real estate industry made this an easy decision,” Markoff said. “The firm's scale, collaborative culture, and coast-to-coast presence give me the infrastructure to deliver broader and more comprehensive solutions for my clients. I look forward to contributing to the continued growth of the firm and helping expand its capabilities in California.”
In May, Husch Blackwell added Los Angeles-based litigation partner Greg Pimstone and senior counsel Michael Nordon.
