National law firm Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce the continued growth of its Real Estate, Development & Construction industry team, with the addition of partner Steven Katkov, who will split his time between the Dallas and Minneapolis offices. He joins the firm from Cozen O’Connor.
Katkov advises clients on a broad range of commercial real estate transactions, including financings/commercial lending, acquisitions, dispositions, sale-leaseback transactions, commercial leases, rights-of-way and easement agreements, and portfolio acquisitions and dispositions around the nation.
“Steve is a tremendously skilled attorney, and the national reach of his experience provides a compelling offering for many of our clients,” said Jon Giokas, head of Husch Blackwell’s Real Estate, Development & Construction industry group. “In particular, the Dallas and Minneapolis markets are two that are of significant importance to our Real Estate industry growth strategy. We’re thrilled Steve has joined the firm.”
Katkov advises builders, developers, and landlords seeking government approvals to pursue project entitlements and in defending alleged regulatory violations. He represents borrowers in varying financing transactions, including mezzanine loans. He serves a wide range of industries nationally and has carved out a niche representing clients in the cannabis industry. He also brings substantial experience with foreclosures, loan workouts, complex lease and joint venture restructurings, and pursuing borrowers and guarantors for deficiencies and fraud.
“The incredible national reputation of Husch Blackwell’s real estate practice was a key factor in my decision to join the firm,” Katkov said. “My clients will greatly benefit from the firm’s deep bench, and I look forward to working with my new colleagues to deliver exception results.”
Katkov is the second real estate partner to join the firm in the past month. Erin Hughes joined Husch Blackwell’s Nashville, Tennessee office at the beginning of May.
