Tanner helps companies solve problems.
Tanner pursued a legal career because he knew he enjoyed collaboration and problem solving and would thrive in a consultant role for clients. As a law student, his first clerkship found him spending a summer with the Office of the Attorney General in Baltimore. Thanks to his passionate for the environment, Tanner was working in the Office’s Department of Natural Resources; however, he soon realized how interested he was in the corporate law side of the regulatory projects he was assisting with.
Realizing that his true interest lay in combining corporate and environmental work, Tanner accepted a summer associateship at a firm where he could contribute to environmental matters through a corporate lens. Along with other general corporate work, he helped companies navigate building projects in wetlands, reviewed land records for solar projects and conducted research on water rights laws in Nebraska governing water usage during drought. As much as he enjoyed the environmental aspect of the work, Tanner quickly discovered that he also loved simply learning about each client’s business and combining legal knowledge with business strategy to develop solutions.
At Husch Blackwell, Tanner assists with a variety of corporate matters and transactions, with a special focus on environmental questions or companies with an environmental mission. Known for his enthusiasm for using his legal knowledge to help clients advance their businesses, he is building a reputation for solid advocacy work that rests on a deep understanding of a client’s world.
