Overview

Spencer defends healthcare providers and other clients in labor and employment matters.

An experienced litigator and trial attorney, Spencer has tried multiple jury trials in federal court, including as first chair. He litigates a variety of employment matters, starting from assisting with internal complaints through enforcement agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and into litigation under cases arising under state and federal statutes including Title VII, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA).

Spencer is never afraid to try a case when it’s in the client’s best interest, but provides clients with preventative advice and counsel on labor and employment issues, reviewing policies and helping them avoid litigation. Spencer considers the most successful employment issue one that can be resolved without litigation.

Alongside his labor and employment experience, Spencer has also served as city attorney for local municipalities, providing sole legal advice and counsel. This includes involvement in all manner of employment issues, from recruitment and hiring through terminations, and everything in between.
