Salma represents borrowers, lenders, and financial institutions in a wide range of domestic and cross-border financial transactions.
Salma chose to focus her legal practice on finance for an unusual reason: she sees finance as a people-driven field. Lives and livelihoods are dependent on the larger financial system, and Salma knows that the companies she serves are made up of people—people who will benefit from the deals she supports. She finds great satisfaction in helping clients navigate the complexity of finance law.
Although her practice has expanded to include borrowers as well, Salma began her career representing lenders, major national and international banks, commercial finance companies, and other lending institutions in asset-based, cash flow, acquisition, leveraged, and supply chain and trade receivable finance transactions worth hundreds of millions. She routinely drafts and negotiates loan and security, guaranty, receivable purchase and sale, and participation agreements, as well as legal opinions and related amendments and documentation.
While Salma also handles domestic transactions, much of her practice is cross-border, and she has experience in jurisdictions all over the world. Her experience includes managing a receivables purchase participation project spread over more than 20 countries as the lead associate with a major Spanish bank.
Salma joined Husch Blackwell in 2023 with the aim of expanding her practice into additional forms of financing transactions, as well as borrower representation. She was also drawn to the firm’s enthusiasm for diversity, equity, and inclusion and the high numbers of women practicing finance law.
With a solid reputation as a highly responsive and reliable professional, Salma is known for her deep international experience. However, she’s most known for simply caring about clients: no transaction is ever just a number to her, and she actively works to build personal relationships with the people behind the deals.
