Patent law was a natural career choice for the electrical engineering and computer science undergraduate, who enjoyed delving into new technologies and never could settle on a single area to focus on as an engineer. With a passion for science, an MBA, and her technical background, she is uniquely equipped to successfully guide clients along their patent journey.
Rachael has served as the lead patent counsel for many companies, overseeing the preparation and prosecution of substantial patent portfolios. While Rachael has experience in patent litigation, she now focuses her practice on patent prosecution. In this role, Rachael has deep experience in preparing and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications in a variety of technologies. In addition to preparing and prosecuting both design and utility patent applications, she assists with contract and license negotiations, and manages and counsels clients, including acting as primary IP counsel.
Rachael particularly loves working on anything with a circuit diagram and was drawn to the hardware-oriented inventions and patents of Husch Blackwell’s clients when she joined the firm in 2023. She serves clients in numerous electronic and computer technologies, including electronic circuitry, computer memory devices and systems, machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), information storage media, liquid crystal display (LCD) and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels, semiconductor devices and fabrication methods, imagers, lasers, radio frequency identification (RFID), mobile communication systems, business methods, and other software-related inventions.
Clients value her effectiveness and efficiency, as her efforts have resulted in hundreds of patents granted. They also appreciate her ability to distill complex, technical details into digestible language for drafting patent specifications and claims, and for successfully interacting with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
