As a Higher Education Law Fellow at Husch Blackwell, Noel’s primary role is serving as a seconded attorney to the Office of the General Counsel at the University of Kansas, assisting with a variety of higher education law matters.
A collaboration between Husch Blackwell and the University of Kansas, the Husch Blackwell Law Fellowship places an early career attorney on the KU Lawrence Campus, working with KU General Counsel attorneys on a broad range of legal issues, including labor and employment, Title IX, contract review and drafting, claims and tort litigation, regulatory compliance matters, faculty appointments and grievance processes, and student conduct. Noel participates in investigations, conducts legal research, drafts pleadings and motions, interviews and deposes witnesses, argues motions, and provides strategic advice.
With a passion for the work of universities, Noel has long hoped to build a career in the higher education world. He’s excited by the positive impact schools have on both their students and their communities, and as a Lawrence native, he’s especially glad to serve the university that has shaped his own hometown. With a love of solving complex problems, he’s also well-suited to navigate the multifaceted structure of a major state university.
Noel previously served as a Judicial Law Clerk at the Missouri Court of Appeals and understands the litigation process from the inside. However, he’s also known for his ability to handle a wide variety of tasks, transitioning quickly between them—a flexibility that serves him well as he juggles the full range of education legal matters.
