Lucas helps clients navigate complex commercial litigation matters, guiding disputes through all stages of state and federal court proceedings.
Lucas chose law school because it fit his interests in reading, writing, and creative problem solving, and because it offered a way to keep learning while advocating for others in his community. After his first year of law school, Lucas spent his summer as a summer associate at a mid-sized firm in Overland Park, where he helped prepare legal documents and observed litigation proceedings, an experience that confirmed his interest in litigation.
Commercial litigation appealed to Lucas because it allows him to work with a wide variety of industries and clients while building his practice. During law school, he served on Kansas Law Review, which sharpened his ability to manage deadlines and collaborate with a team, and he competed on the National NALSA Moot Court Team, advancing to the Elite Eight and refining his oral advocacy skills along the way.
As a summer associate at Husch Blackwell, Lucas focused primarily on commercial litigation projects while also contributing to matters in insolvency, labor and employment, real estate, and education. He was drawn to the firm’s nationally ranked summer program and its Kansas City-based commercial litigation team, and the experience led directly to his decision to join the practice group full time.
Known for his thoughtful approach and strong work ethic, Lucas brings genuine care to resolving disputes and helping clients achieve practical results.
