A registered patent agent, he primarily prepares and prosecutes patent applications for large corporations, with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and software technologies. Before joining Husch Blackwell, he worked at patent boutiques, representing clients ranging from startups to major electronics companies across industries including augmented and virtual reality, fintech, cryptocurrency, logistics, health and wellness, semiconductors, autonomous vehicles, and amusement parks.
Louis studied chemical physics and initially planned to become a quantum chemistry professor. However, while working as a research assistant in the Physics & Astronomy and Chemistry departments at Rice University, he discovered a natural fit for patent practice. He was drawn to the combination of science, technology, and writing, as well as the challenge of quickly mastering unfamiliar subject matter. His ability to learn complex technologies and communicate them clearly has become a defining strength in his patent practice. He especially enjoys staying at the forefront of emerging technologies and seeing the innovations he works on evolve from ideas into products that ultimately reach the marketplace.
