Overview

Kathryn helps inventors protect what they have created. She secures patent rights that prevent others from using, copying, or profiting from an invention without permission.

Kathryn’s practice focuses on patent prosecution, helping clients move innovations from invention disclosure through patent issuance. Her technical experience is concentrated in mechanical technologies, including energy, aerospace, software, and artificial intelligence (AI), with additional experience in chemical and electrical technologies. She has represented a broad range of clients, from individual inventors and startups to established companies, guiding them through the patent process.

Before joining the firm, Kathryn served as a senior applications engineer for an oilfield equipment and services company specializing in electric submersible pumping (ESP) systems. She later transitioned to intellectual property (IP), working as a patent agent at an IP firm, where she combined her engineering background with her interest in emerging technologies. Kathryn’s petroleum engineering education and industry experience provide her with a strong technical foundation and a practical understanding of complex engineering systems. Her experience as an engineer developed her ability to quickly learn, solve novel problems, and communicate technical concepts clearly—skills she applies to helping clients protect their innovations. Kathryn is drawn to patent practice because it allows her to continually engage with new technologies and emerging developments across a wide range of industries.

Kathryn takes a strategic approach to patent protection by understanding what makes each invention unique and working to safeguard its core innovation as broadly as possible. By collaborating closely with inventors and leveraging their deep knowledge of their industries, she develops patent strategies that capture the key aspects of an invention while supporting long-term value.

Clients appreciate Kathryn’s responsiveness, accessibility, and collaborative approach. She provides timely updates, thoughtful guidance, and support tailored to each client’s level of familiarity with IP. Whether working with experienced companies or first-time inventors, Kathryn ensures clients understand the purpose behind each decision and feel confident in the direction of their patent strategy.

Community Leadership

Kathryn’s commitment to service extends from her local community to children and families worldwide. After experiencing a severe ice storm in Tulsa as a child and losing electricity, she was inspired to found The Coat Drive at St. Anthony’s Church, an annual effort that continues to provide winter clothing to those facing hardship. She also has participated in Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan’s Purse since age 12, fundraising and packing gift-filled shoeboxes for children across the globe. In 2025 alone, she prepared 111 shoeboxes, continuing a tradition rooted in her faith and her belief that every child deserves to experience the joy of Christmas.
