Derek’s practice is focused on client growth.
Derek devotes much of his time to lender-side finance work, to commercial investment real estate transactions and as outside general counsel to operating companies. He counsels both financial institutions and non-bank lenders in a broad variety of projects, including real estate loans, commercial lending, agricultural lending, new market tax credits and other tax financing. In addition, Derek represents owners and developers of and investors in commercial real estate, overseeing a transaction’s full life cycle, from land acquisition through to disposition.
Derek also serves clients as a general resource for company legal needs, often quarterbacking outside general counsel needs for various manufacturers, distributors and contractors. He aims to facilitate these companies’ growth and frequently assists with succession planning and discussions of transitions of ownership.
Derek’s priority for clients is growth through investment, and he has the experience to help clients grow in all market conditions. He began his career in the 2009 recession and has worked in all market conditions and assisted with all transactional needs.
