Ashton draws on both his legal degree and his Master’s of Health Administration to assist healthcare providers with regulatory compliance matters.
While in law school, Ashton sought to combine his understanding of the law with his interest in healthcare. He was intrigued by the combination of business operations and innovation that furthered patient care. Therefore, after earning a Bachelor of Laws in the United Kingdom, Ashton returned to the United States for both a JD and a Master’s of Health Administration focusing on health law and operations.
Today, Ashton provides regulatory counsel to healthcare providers and industry partners, helping them navigate complex and frequently-changing rules. Clients benefit from Ashton’s externship experience with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Law Department, where we worked alongside the hospital’s general counsel. Ashton gained a solid understanding of how hospital executives and operations personnel think and how legal counsel can be most helpful to them. While much of Ashton’s experience centers on regulatory compliance for hospitals and physician groups, he has also worked to resolve hospice care, pharmacy and data privacy-related matters.
Known for his in-depth background in healthcare operations, Ashton has built a reputation as a results-oriented professional. His goal is to get clients the answers and solutions they need, as efficiently as possible and with an eye to the advice that will most help their healthcare practices.
