Abby helps transform clients’ innovative ideas into protected inventions by supporting attorneys throughout the patent application process. Drawing on her engineering background, she assists in analyzing new technologies and developing technically accurate patent applications that safeguard inventors’ ideas.

Abby has long been interested in the intersection of technology and law. Her engineering experience confirmed her desire to pursue a career that combines technical problem-solving with legal analysis, ultimately leading her to patent practice.

Before joining Husch Blackwell, Abby interned with a multinational construction, architecture, and engineering firm on the Power Transmission and Distribution team where she gained hands-on experience with substation protection and control systems while developing a strong foundation in electrical engineering. This experience continues to inform her ability to understand complex technologies and effectively support clients’ IP goals.

Today, Abby works with IP attorneys on patent drafting and prosecution matters involving a range of engineering technologies, including power electronics, telecommunications, and semiconductors. Her work includes preparing patent applications and responses to patent office actions, applying her technical knowledge to identify and communicate the unique aspects of each invention. She appreciates the variety that patent practice offers and the opportunity to engage with innovative ideas from the earliest stages of their development.

Known for a collaborative and dependable approach, Abby values open communication, builds strong working relationships, and is committed to delivering high-quality work in a timely manner. She approaches each assignment with focus and enthusiasm and is eager to contribute to clients’ success.

When she’s not at work, Abby is always up for trying something new. She stays active by playing in a local rec league soccer club, enjoys going for runs, and is rarely without a good book. She is always on the hunt for her next great read and hopes to join a book club soon.

Abby also loves to travel and has explored Europe several times. Rome is her favorite destination—a dream trip for a self-proclaimed history nerd.
