International Trade & Supply Chain Cost Savings: What's Here, What's Not and What's on the Horizon

July 13, 2016
1:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Please join Husch Blackwell and MIQ Logistics for an afternoon seminar focused on issues in U.S. international trade policy. This seminar will offer practical knowledge and insight into free trade agreements and legislation affecting the import and export of goods for U.S. companies, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015, and the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill.

  • The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP):
    • How TPP will affect sourcing and provide cost savings
    • Next steps on the road to implementation
    • When we might see benefits
    • Examples of how to qualify for TPP duty-free status
    • Expected Customs enforcement
    • How to ensure compliance
  • Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015:
    • Amendments to duty-free provisions for U.S. goods returned (Heading 9801)
    • Modifications to duty-free provisions for articles returned after being improved in condition abroad (Heading 9802)
    • Changes to the drawback statute
    • Changes to Customs bond requirements
    • New enforcement provisions specific to intellectual property rights, as well as anti-dumping and countervailing duty evasion allegations
  • The Miscellaneous Tariff Bill: Will it ever return?  And if so:
    • What is expected to be covered
    • How to apply for MTB duty-free status

We will conclude with a networking reception.
