The Biden administration has made hiring additional federal tax auditors a priority; and, state audit activity has risen in recent years and is likely to continue. In addition to the recent trend in increasingly aggressive federal and state auditors, it is important for taxpayers to take action now to ensure optimal outcomes.

Husch Blackwell speakers will present on the timely topic of how taxpayers may best position themselves for a successful defense against these stepped-up federal and state tax audits. Among other topics, the panelists will address pre-audit preparation; coordination among compliance personnel, accountants and attorneys; and how best to address potentially high-exposure adjustments.

The Husch Blackwell panelists include a former Internal Revenue Service (IRS) counsel who has appeared in over 300 federal tax cases, a former state tax department auditor, and a seasoned state tax controversy practitioner recognized by Best Lawyers for his state and local tax controversy negotiation skills.
