Trecia Moore will present, “Mock Labor Arbitration Hearing,” at the ABA Labor and Employment Law Section’s 20th Annual Labor and Employment Law Conference on Friday, November 6, 2026, in Washington, DC.
Part One: Preliminary Issues, Opening Statements and Presenting the Case
This two-part program features a multifaceted mock labor arbitration hearing including a disciplinary case wrapped up with a contract interpretation dispute. Panelists will showcase effective advocacy and common avoidable missteps. The first part covers preliminary disputes at the hearing, opening statements, and the beginning of the cases-in-chief, including direct examination techniques and cross-examination strategies. Advocates will present their cases while the arbitrator shares what works—and what does not—from the neutral’s perspective.
Part Two: Presentation, Closing Arguments and Post-Hearing and Remedy Issues
The second part of the mock labor arbitration hearing concludes our demonstration with the parties’ presentations completing their cases-in-chief, and moving on to closing arguments, concluding with the discussion of post-hearing issues, like whether post-hearing briefs affect outcomes and remedy considerations. Our advocates will present their cases, leaving the arbitrator to share from the neutral’s perspective what advocates can do to achieve a winning outcome.
