Over the past several years, various states have passed laws that limit the intentional use of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in food packaging. With several state laws already in effect, and several more to become effective in the next several months, food retailers, manufacturers, importers, packaging manufacturers, and distributors have been diligently managing their packaging portfolios to comply with these laws and eliminate PFAS from packaging. However, this process can be complicated by a lack of adequate alternatives available to replace PFAS in packaging.

Join Husch Blackwell Food Safety & Regulation attorneys as they provide an overview of federal and state actions related to the presence of PFAS in food packaging, compliance with the laws, and lessons learned from the last several months of two state laws being in effect.

Topics:

  • In-depth overview
  • Use in food packaging and packaging manufacturing
  • Federal actions
  • State bans in food packaging and their implementation
