Husch Blackwell Chief Executive Jamie Lawless spoke with The American Lawyer to discuss the firm's performance in 2025.

The firm has achieved six consecutive years of double-digit growth and Lawless said she is confident “we’ll be a billion-dollar organization in a matter of time.”

Lawless noted that litigation—particularly mass torts—and data center work were among the key drivers of the firm’s strong performance, along with the addition of more than 100 lateral attorneys.

In 2025, the firm continued retooling the C-suite with the addition of Chief Business Development Officer Erin Banks. It added Chief Financial Officer Michael Barton in January 2026 and announced earlier this month the appointment of Joanna Penn as Chief Transformation Officer with the creation of the Transformation Office.

Lawless “pointed to multiple ‘tectonic’ changes across industries that Husch Blackwell is accounting for, including AI and tech advances, geopolitical and economic uncertainty, and changing expectations in the workforce. She said at the end of the day, the firm needs to navigate those forces itself, and help its clients navigate them, too.”

“The more we can help them navigate this immense period of change, the better strategic partner we are,” she said.
