National law firm Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that attorneys Kimberly Chew, Karen Luong, and Natasha Sumner were named to the National Law Journal’s inaugural Emerging Therapies/Life Sciences Trailblazers list.
The trio were selected as Trailblazers for their work serving the psychedelics industry. Based in The Link, the firm’s virtual office, Chew, Luong, and Sumner lead Husch Blackwell’s Psychedelics and Emerging Therapies practice, which provides clients a full suite of legal services—including healthcare regulatory, corporate law, corporate governance, banking and finance, and intellectual property, among others—that bear upon the development of new products and therapies.
Chew, Luong, and Sumner have been following the clinical research in psychedelics for a number of years. They are starting to see the psychedelic industry being taking seriously as state legislatures are having earnest discussions around regulated treatment centers. In addition, bipartisan and bicameral congressional lawmakers have filed companion bills clarifying federal Right to Try laws that would give seriously ill patients access to Schedule 1 drugs including psilocybin and MDMA.
Husch Blackwell launched its Psychedelics and Emerging Therapies practice group in March 2022, becoming the first Am Law 100 firm to create a practice devoted to serving the psychedelics industry.
