National law firm Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce Senior Counsel Lisa Lawless has been elected President-elect of the State Bar of Wisconsin, and she will ultimately serve as the 130th president of  the State Bar of Wisconsin.

“I’m enthused and energized to be elected State Bar president-elect by my peers,” Lawless said. “The bar has more than 25,000 lawyers practicing in and out of Wisconsin and consists of talented lawyers representing clients in varied practice settings and geographic areas. During the campaign, we have had the opportunity to connect with Wisconsin lawyers and hear their concerns and ideas. The bar faces significant challenges including the shortage of lawyers in the less populated and rural areas of our state, and the complete lack of state funding for civil legal services for the indigent. I look forward to joining bar leaders who are working on these issues, and to help formulate creative solutions and effect positive change.”

Based in Milwaukee, Lawless’s practice consists of civil litigation in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate levels. Her substantial appellate experience involves state and federal courts and includes arguing in the Wisconsin Supreme Court five times in the past 15 years. Substantively, she focuses her practice on litigation and regulatory work in the consumer financial services industry, land use, administrative law, and representing Indian tribes in litigation.

She will assume the role of president-elect on July 1 before becoming the president on July 1, 2027. Her three-year term will end on July 1, 2029 after serving as past-president for one year.
