Husch Blackwell Welcomes 24 Law School Graduates

Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that 24 law school graduates join the firm this fall. They come from 15 law schools across the country and are located in nine of the firm’s U.S. offices.

Chattanooga, Tenn.

Kelsie D. Hanson joins the firm’s Real Estate, Development & Construction group. She received her J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law (2014), where she was editor-in-chief of the Texas Review of Law & Politics and a member of the Federalist Society. Hanson received B.S. degrees in Accounting and International Business from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. (2010).

Caleb T. Holzaepfel joins the firm’s Insolvency & Commercial Bankruptcy group. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta (2014), where he was on the Dean’s List. He also served as articles editor for the Emory International Law Review and was a member of the Center for the Study of Law & Religion. Holzaepfel received his Master of Theological Studies from Vanderbilt University (2010) and his B.A. in History, magna cum laude, from Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. (2008).

Chicago

Cameron D. Clawson joins the firm’s Intellectual Property group. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Washington University School of Law (2014), where he was on the Dean’s List and received three CALI Excellence for the Future awards. He was also the primary editor for the Washington University Journal of Law & Policy. Clawson received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia (2007), where he was on the Dean’s List.

Denver

Emma L. Nagengast joins the firm’s Labor & Employment group. After law school, Nagengast served as a law clerk for the Hon. C. Arlen Beam of the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit, in Lincoln, Neb. (2012-2014). Nagengast received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Neb. (2012), where she was on the Dean’s Honor Roll, served as senior lead articles editor for the Creighton Law Review, and received five CALI Excellence for the Future awards. She was also a member of Jesuit national honors society Alpha Sigma Nu. Nagengast received her B.A. in History and Women and Gender Studies, magna cum laude, from Santa Clara University in California (2009), where she was on the Dean’s List.

Kansas City, Mo.

Paul E. Cassat joins the firm’s Banking & Finance group. He received his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law (2014), where he earned a Business and Commercial Law Certificate, graduated Order of the Coif and received the C.C. Stewart Award. He was also articles editor for The University of Kansas Law Review and a member of the Moot Court Council. Cassat received his B.A. in History and Political Science, summa cum laude, from the University of Tulsa (2011).

Taylor B. Concannon joins the firm’s Business Litigation group. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kan. (2014). During law school, Concannon was a staff member and comments editor for the Washburn Law Journal, held several leadership positions with Washburn Bar Association, and was a member of Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. Concannon received her B.S. in Political Science, summa cum laude, from Kansas State University (2011), where she was a Kansas State University Leadership Scholar, McKelvie Political Science Scholar and Bork Leadership Scholar.

Max Ellenbecker joins the firm’s Intellectual Property group. He received his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law (2014), where he graduated Order of the Coif, received a CALI Excellence for the Future award and a Payne & Jones Award for Legal Writing. Ellenbecker received his B.S. in Architectural Engineering (2011), where he was on the Dean’s Honor Role and a National SMART Grant Recipient.

Sean P. Finley joins the firm’s Corporate group. He received his J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Missouri School of Law (2014), where he was a Judge Ross T. Roberts Scholar, received the Trulaske College of Business Academic Achievement Award, and was on the Dean’s List. He was also a member of the legal honor society Phi Delta Phi International. Finley received his B.S. in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering from the University of Missouri - Columbia (2010), where he was on the Dean’s List and the College of Engineering Dean’s High Honor Roll.

Benjamin T. Friesen joins the firm’s Business Litigation group. He received his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law (2014), where he was an Omar E. Robinson scholarship recipient, managing editor of The Urban Lawyer and a staff member of the UMKC Law Review. Friesen received his B.S. in History, magna cum laude, from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. (2010), where he was a member of Phi Alpha Theta history honors society.

Emily C. Goins joins the firm’s Insolvency & Commercial Bankruptcy group. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Arkansas School of Law (2014), where she was awarded a medal of excellence from the American Bankruptcy Institute, was articles editor for the Arkansas Law Review and was a member of Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. Goins received B.S. degrees in Psychology and Communication Sciences and Disorders, summa cum laude, from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo. (2009), where she was a member of Psi Chi psychology honors society.

Alyssa S. Gonnerman joins the firm’s Labor & Employment group. She received her J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law (2014), where she was a member of the Advanced Moot Court Competition team and Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. She also participated in the University of Iowa Comparative Law Program in Arcachon, France (Summer 2011). Gonnerman received her B.S.B.A. in Accounting, with high distinction, from the University of Iowa (2011), and was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma business honors society.

Anna R. Kimbrell joins the firm’s Real Estate, Development & Construction group. She received her J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law (2014), where she earned a Business and Commercial Law Certificate, was a member of The University of Kansas Law Review, was vice president of the American Constitution Society and received the Robert E. Edmunds Prize in Corporations and Securities Law. Kimbrell also received her M.B.A. from the University of Kansas (2014). Prior to law school, Kimbrell was a project consultant for a recreational consulting firm GreenPlay LLC. She received her B.A. in Print Journalism from American University in Washington, D.C. (2003).

David M. Solberg joins the firm’s Healthcare, Life Sciences & Pharmaceuticals group. He received his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law (2014) and his Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Iowa College of Public Health (2014). During law school, he was a student writer for The Journal of Corporation Law. Prior to law school, Solberg was a lab analyst for biotechnology company Genzyme Corporation. He received his B.A. in Biology and History from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. (2005).

Memphis, Tenn.

Ryan A. Burgett joins the firm’s Insolvency & Commercial Bankruptcy group. He received his J.D. from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law (2014), where he received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award and was notes editor for the University of Memphis Law Review. He was also a student liaison to the Community Legal Center Board of Directors and a member of the International Law Students Association. Burgett received his B.S.B.A. in Finance from the University of Tennessee (2011), where he was a member of Phi Eta Sigma national honors society and Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity.

Omaha, Neb.

Kamron T. Hasan joins the firm’s Business Litigation group. He received his J.D., summa cum laude, from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Neb. (2014), where he was on the Dean’s Honor Roll and received eight CALI Excellence for the Future awards. Hasan was also a member of the Creighton Law Review, a Moot Court board member, a community outreach director for the Asian Law Students Association, and a member of Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, the Latino Law Students Association and Law School Democrats. Hasan received his B.S.B.A. in Business Economics, magna cum laude, from the University of Arizona (2010), where he was on the Dean’s List.

Springfield, Mo.

Shelly A. Rosenfelder joined the firm’s Business Litigation group in August. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Missouri School of Law (2014), where she graduated Order of the Coif, was on the Dean’s List and received eight CALI Excellence for the Future Awards. She was also an associate editor for the Missouri Law Review and served in leadership positions within the Federalist Society. In addition, Rosenfelder was a peer mentor in the Student Bar Association and a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. Rosenfelder received her B.A. in History, summa cum laude, and B.A. in Classical Studies, summa cum laude, from Westminster College in Fulton, Mo. (2011), where she was on the Dean’s List.

St. Louis

David. D. Dean joins the firm’s Business Litigation group. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Washington University School of Law (2014), where he graduated Order of the Coif and was senior editor of Washington University Law Review. He also received seven CALI Excellence for the Future awards, a Legal Practice Excellence award and the Don Sommers Award in Professional Responsibility. Prior to law school, Dean worked for Campus Crusade for Christ International as city director of a graduate ministry and as a member of the international campus staff. He received his B.A. in History and Political Science, cum laude, from the University of North Carolina (2003).

Justin T. Fezzi joins the firm’s Banking & Finance group. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Saint Louis University School of Law (2014), where he graduated Order of the Woolsack, was an 1843 Scholar, on the Dean’s List and received two Academic Excellence Awards. He was also an editor of the Saint Louis University Law Journal. Fezzi received his B.S. in Sport Management, cum laude, from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio (2010), where he was on the Dean’s List.

Kaytlin E. Kopen joins the firm’s Labor & Employment group. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Washington University School of Law (2014), where she received three CALI Excellence for the Future Awards, was on the Dean’s List and on the executive board of the Washington University Jurisprudence Review. She also received the Equal Justice Works award, the Don Sommers Award in Professional Responsibility, the Dean’s Service Award, the Scholar in Law award and an Honor Scholar award. Kopen received B.A. degrees in Psychology and Anthropology from Washington University (2011), where she was on the Dean’s List and a member of Lambda Alpha anthropology honors society.

Shannon D. Peters joins the firm’s Product Liability group. He received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law (2014), where he was president of the Intellectual Property Legal Society, a student member of the American Bar Association and member of the Black Law Student Association. Prior to law school, Peters spent more than 10 years in the automotive industry working for industry leaders including Moog Automotive, Electronic Data Systems, Saturn Corporation, General Motors and Nissan Extended Services North America. In addition, he taught undergraduate courses in business management for the University of Phoenix. An entrepreneur, Peters also owned and operated Music City Customs LLC, an automotive aftermarket accessories company. Peters received his M.S. in Operations Management from Kettering University in Flint, Mich. (2002) and his B.S. in Advanced Technical Studies in Automotive Technology, with honors, from Southern Illinois University (1996).

Edwin J. Smith joins the firm’s Business Litigation group. He received his J.D. from Washington University School of Law (2014), where he received an Excellence in Oral Advocacy award, was on the Dean’s List, was Secretary of Administration for the Student Bar Association, and a member of the ABA Representations in Mediation team and the Black Law Students Association. Smith received his B.S.B.A. in International Business from Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio (2010), where he was on the Dean’s List.

Derek J. Wiseman joins the firm’s Business Litigation group. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Washington University School of Law (2014), where he graduated Order of the Coif and was notes editor for Washington University Law Review. He was also a member of the Washington University ABA National Moot Court team and received the Judge Amandus Brackmun Moot Court Award. Wiseman received his B.A. in Political Science, summa cum laude, from the University of Central Missouri (2011), where he served as president of the student body.

Washington, D.C.

Michelle L. Caton joins the firm’s Government Contracts group. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Va. (2014). She was a member of the George Mason Law Review, the George Mason Inn of Court, Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society, and the Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. Prior to law school, Caton held project management positions at HDR Engineering Inc., PTI Global, Inc., and Bachmann Industries Inc. Caton received her B.A. in International Affairs, summa cum laude, from the University of Maine, where she was on the Dean’s List.

Charles M. Fleischmann joins the firm’s Regulatory group. He received his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law (2014), where he was a law school ambassador. He received his B.A. in Philosophy, with honors, from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. (2011).
