Husch Blackwell Partner Albert Lin received the Justice David Wellington Chew Award for significant contributions to the Asian-Pacific American legal community of Texas in ceremonies April 9 in Austin. The award was presented by the Asian Pacific Interest Section (APIS) of the State Bar of Texas, which Lin served as treasurer from 2005 to 2012.

A member of the firm’s Healthcare, Life Sciences & Education group, Lin is currently on the Leadership Council of the Austin Asian American Bar Association and is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association and the Austin Bar Association. He also was co-chair of the Exempt Organizations Subcommittee of the State Bar of Texas’ Tax Section from 2007 to 2011. Lin’s civic involvement includes service on the boards of nonprofits such as the Any Baby Can of Austin Child and Family Resource Center and the Communication Service for the Deaf Inc.

“It is quite flattering to receive this award named for Justice Chew,” Lin said. “He’s truly a pioneering figure in the Texas judiciary and has done much for the Asian-American community. I’m proud to represent Husch Blackwell in acceptance of this award.”

“Albert is a role model for young attorneys everywhere,” said Adam Hauser, managing partner of Husch Blackwell’s Austin office. “The leadership he has shown through service to his profession and his community is a testament to the strength of his considerable talents.”

Established in 2002, the Justice David Wellington Chew Award honors individuals whose selfless contributions benefit the Asian-Pacific American legal community of Texas. The award was named after Justice Chew, who currently presides as chief justice of the Eighth Court of Appeals. APIS was formed in 1995 to advocate and promote the common professional interests of lawyers of and interested in Asian-Pacific American heritage, community and culture.
