Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that Buffey Klein, a partner in the firm’s Financial Services & Capital Markets industry group, has assumed the role of Office Managing Partner of the firm’s Dallas office, effective January 1, 2023.

Klein replaces Eric Weatherford, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in July 2022.

Klein represents creditors and debtors in restructuring and insolvency matters, including loan workouts, out-of-court restructurings, Chapter 11 filings, receiverships, and asset sales. She recently served as lead debtor’s counsel for Christian Care Centers, a senior care and skilled nursing nonprofit organization, in connection with its Chapter 11 filing in May 2022. She was also a key team member representing the court-appointed receiver in a massive $400 million investment fraud that recently returned $50 million to victims of the scheme in one of the largest securities fraud recovery projects in U.S. history.

“I look forward to helping the firm grow in Dallas. We have a strong group of attorneys and a genuine culture of collaboration and teamwork,” said Klein. “There is a lot of positive momentum for the firm in Dallas, and we continue to attract great clients and talented people.”

Husch Blackwell’s Dallas office has grown in recent years and now includes nearly 40 lawyers. Its key practice areas include real estate, insurance, banking and finance, commercial bankruptcy, commercial litigation, energy law, and healthcare law.
