Husch Blackwell congratulates client Crusoe for its 1.2-gigawatt AI data center in Abilene, Texas, being recognized as the North American Data Center Project of the Year at the 2025 Data Center Dynamics (DCD) Global Awards.

The DCD Awards are widely considered the "Oscars" of the data center industry, celebrating teams that push the boundaries of design and operations. The judges selected Crusoe’s 1.2 GW Abilene data center—built to support Oracle Coud Infrastructure—for overcoming the unique challenges of the AI era: the need for “ludicrous speed” in deployment without sacrificing sustainability or density. It also noted the data center is “supported by an energy-first model that includes onsite generation.”

Husch Blackwell’s energy and real estate teams assisted Crusoe in reaching financial close in Mary 2025 in the second phase of a $15 billion joint venture with Blue Owl Capital and Primary Digital Infrastructure to fund the AI data center.

Husch Blackwell served as local counsel to Crusoe, advising on the regulatory structure of the sale of power to the data center tenants as well as with local permitting related to the construction of the six new buildings.
