Husch Blackwell’s energy team assisted Nexus Renewable Power in closing a $220 million preferred equity investment from Goldman Sachs for Project Goody, a renewable energy development in Lamar County, Texas comprising a 172 MW solar project and a 237 MW energy storage project.
Husch Blackwell served as local counsel to Nexus at each stage of the financing.
The closing is the culmination of more than two years of project finance work on Project Goody, which also included a $300 million construction-to-permanent financing facility with HPS Investment Partners and a $100 million carbon credit financing joint venture with Bad Carbon. Project Goody is the first project financed and constructed within Nexus’s portfolio of renewable development assets, and Husch Blackwell is also assisting Nexus with the acquisition and development of a number of additional projects in Texas that are expected to be financed and constructed in the near future.
The Husch Blackwell team was led by partners Jeff Vercauteren and Sean Farrell, and included attorneys Dakota Parish, Jon Micah Goeller, and Stevie Matheny.
