National law firm Husch Blackwell announced today that Christine Bischoff has joined the firm’s Education practice as senior counsel. Based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, she brings nearly two decades of education law experience spanning federal agencies and private practice.
Bischoff advises independent schools, religious schools, public school districts, postsecondary institutions, and education service providers on regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and dispute resolution, including responding to federal and state level complaints and enforcement actions. She spent nearly a decade between the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights and the Educational Opportunities Section within the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, where she managed nationwide dockets of civil rights cases, led system-wide investigations, and negotiated settlement agreements with school district and university leadership.
“Christine’s background at the Department of Education and the Department of Justice gives our education clients direct insight into how federal regulators approach investigations and enforcement, which is exactly the kind of experience our independent schools, universities, and education technology clients need as compliance and civil rights issues grow more complex,” said Sean Tassi, partner and co-leader of Husch Blackwell’s education team.
“I’m excited to join Husch Blackwell’s preeminent education team and contribute to a practice with such deep experience representing more than 350 education clients,” Bischoff said. “My government experience has given me a deep understanding of how agencies approach compliance, investigations, and enforcement, and I look forward to helping clients navigate government-related matters with practical, strategic guidance.”
