Christina Moore, senior counsel at Husch Blackwell, has been named Pro Bono Volunteer of the Month for March 2021 by the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.

Moore was nominated for her assistance to a client of St. Francis Community Legal Services’ Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry. The client had purchased a house through a contract for deed, which delays legal title being transferred to the purchaser until all payments are paid. If the purchaser misses a payment, the contract is breached, and all of the equity built up in the house is lost. The client had religiously paid 10 years of the 15-year payment schedule. Pursuant to the contract, he was supposed to have received the transfer of legal title after two years of payments, but the seller refused to transfer the title. Moore stepped in and convinced the seller to honor the terms of the contract. The deed is now recorded thanks to Moore’s pro bono assistance.

Moore was assisted by William Hof, Leslie Hofer, and Rachel Taylor of Husch Blackwell’s Real Estate, Development & Construction group as well as Stephen Novack from St. Francis Community Services.
